Product Bulletin January 1997
1620A/1625A
  1. The Transconductance Amplifier (1620A) and the Current Shunt (1625A) are now linear from 100 microAmps through 100 Amps.

  2. Product improvements have been implemented in both of these products to drastically reduce the temperature coefficients (TC) of the 20 Amp and 100 Amp current shunts.

  3. Thirmisters have been added to the shunts to compensate for the already low TC of the shunt material

The material used for the shunts is as near zero TC as possible. However, due to the heat rise that occurs when the high current is passed through the shunt, the value of the shunt could change as much as 3000 PPM from 0 to 100 Amps. Each instrument is subjected to rigorous testing to determine the uncompensated TC of the shunt material. Then a thermal correction circuit is added to reduce the thermal shift to typically less than 100 PPM over the entire operating range.
